Transformers for Oil & Gas
High-performance transformers built for harsh oil and gas environments
Fossil fuels have long been the backbone of the global energy economy, powering industries, transportation, and everyday life. Today, however, growing climate regulations are pushing big changes in this important industry towards a greener environment.
TMC Transformers knows that safeguarding nature, staying reliable, and handling tough conditions are big challenges. That’s why we use advanced design, simulation, and testing to make sure our transformers meet the highest standards. Our full range of dry type transformers is built and tested to be mechanical stable and capable of withstanding the demanding conditions typical in oil and gas operations.
In no other field, the expectations for the material used are as high as in this specific application and installation sites, which can be on drilling platforms, production rigs or on any Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) unit. TMC dry-type transformers are exceptionally safe and reliable. Both the electrical and the mechanical properties of this technology ensure maximum of reliability and enable it to be used in every conditions. As also no flammable materials are used during manufacturing process, the dry-type technology is highly recommended when you have a fire load and explosion hazard.

Transformer for naval propulsion
The electrical propulsion systems have many advantages compared to the conventional engine driven propulsion system. This technology is required due to the increasing demand for electrical propulsion for different vessels, such as cruise ships, container ships and navy ships. With advancement in technology and research, the electrical propulsion system is not limited to small boats and small vessels anymore.
This solution is for a transformer for a motor driver with 12 pulse bridge rectifiers, a nominal power rating of 3.5MVA, a primary voltage of 11kV and a frequency of 60Hz.
Installation is indoor in a vessel hull with IP44 protection and an air-to-water heat exchange (AFWF).
Transformer is fully certified by a (third party) naval register.
- Power: 7,5 MVA
- Primary Voltage: 11kV, 60Hz
- Secondary Voltage: 2 x 1,8kV
- Protection: IP44
